Our Story, Values & the People Behind Every Perfect Stay

Nestled in the misty hills of Ella, Sri Lanka, Wood Chalets Ella was born from a simple dream—to offer travelers more than just a place to sleep, but a genuine retreat into nature’s warmest embrace.

We opened our doors on April 2nd, 2025, with just one room. That single space was our promise: an intimate, handcrafted experience where every detail spoke of authenticity. That first room began as a Double Room, but within six months, we listened to our guests and transformed it into a spacious Family Room—crafted entirely from rich, natural wood. Walls, ceiling, furniture… all wood. Because we believe true comfort smells like cedar and feels like home.

Today, we have grown to two rooms. The second, a Double Room, opened in November 2025. While its walls remain pure wood to keep that cozy chalet spirit, we chose elegant tile flooring for easy maintenance and a cool, clean feel—perfect after a long day hiking Ella Rock.

Both of our chalets share one signature feature: a private wooden balcony overlooking Ella’s green canvas. That balcony is where mornings begin with fresh tea and end with fireflies.

We are not a large resort. We are Wood Chalets Ella—small, honest, and built by hand, one wooden plank at a time.
