The host was super nice and really helpful. He got out of his way to accommodate us! The place is lovely and you can see that they put a lot of work into it. We had a breakfast one morning, which was extremely delicious! We also got breakfast to go for our train ride early in the morning, when we left. The accommodation is a bit outside of Ella. So it’s really enjoyable if you don’t want to be in the buzz of it but enjoy some peaceful time. So all in all highly recommended!

What a lovely little place. Super easy to access and just tucked off of the main road. Please note – use the Google Maps link that the hosts send, as we searched ‘Wood Chalets Ella’ on Google Maps and it takes you to a different property a few kms away, way up in the hills (this is the case at the time of writing but I flagged it with the hosts and they were looking to rectify the issue). The hosts could not do enough for us and provided a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast in the morning, which we ate on the terrace. As for the cabin itself, there has obviously been a lot of thought put into its design. It has tea/coffee making facilities (which is always welcome!), the bed is comfy and there are plug sockets on either side of the bed. They also had space for us to park our tuktuk. Thank you for a lovely stay!

This place is absolutely amazing! Sithum was such a lovely host. He was eager to help us with everything we needed, even did our laundry when needed and provided a delicious breakfast for us every morning. He also provides yummy dinner at a very affordable price. This family made us feel welcome and at home and always had a smile on their faces. The place is located right by the road so it was much easier to access through the winding roads of Ella, but still had the charm and quietness we were hoping for. The property has a beautiful view of the backyard as well, with a river close by that you can see. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds we have had in Sri Lanka so far, and had a nice shower and all the amenities we needed for our stay. Next time we are in Ella, we will definitely stay here again! Thank you so much for having us 🩷

Amazing host that will go above and beyond to provide anything you need. We also got xmas gifts in the morning.Very nice clean room. Food was also very good. The only thing is the road is close by but we could sleep without problem during the night.

We sadly didn’t get the chance to stay at Wood Chalets Ella in the end, as we had a serious accident that forced us to interrupt our trip. However, Sithum and his family showed us that humanity comes before everything. Even though we had to cancel our reservation, they came to visit us in the hospital and brought us food and water, which meant the world to us in such a difficult moment. 🙏🏼 We truly hope to visit their place one day and finally experience their accommodation. We feel deeply grateful and fully appreciate their care and concern. It is so important – and so rare – to see human kindness prevail over everything else in situations like this. Ubytovanie velmi pekné, čisté. Hostiteľ perfektný, staral sa, aby hosťom nechýbalo nič. Dobra poloha, cca 4km od Elly.

We cannot fault this stay. From the beginning to the end the owner was incredibly kind, generous and helpful. We stayed during the recent cyclone, he kept us fully up to date and let us stay for however long we needed. We had dinner and breakfast here every morning – portions were huge and delicious! He also came by often to check if we needed any tea, coffee or fruit. We truly cannot recommend this stay more. The room was clean, cosy and had everything you needed. It is also great value for money compared to other places in Ella. Don’t be put off by the location a short and cheap tuk tuk ride will take you into Ella centre which the owner assisted with booking. We would book again in a heartbeat!
